In her law practice Jess advises and represents unions and employees on a wide range of matters, with a particular expertise in human rights, disability, workplace safety, and accommodation issues. Jess is also experienced in public interest litigation, and has appeared before a wide range of administrative tribunals, arbitration panels, and courts.

Jess is also a skilled and experienced mediator. She uses a practical, respectful approach to support individuals and organizations to resolve their most challenging conflicts. Jess welcomes work mediating civil disputes of all kinds, including workplace conflicts such as wrongful dismissal claims and complaints of discrimination, bullying and harassment.

Before becoming a lawyer and mediator, Jess worked as a cashier, a library clerk, a barista, and a farm hand. Jess has volunteered regularly with pro bono organizations and with the CBA, and is a dedicated supporter of Big Sisters. She obtained her BA from Oxford University and her law degree from the University of Victoria.

Jess has recently returned to Calgary after practicing law in BC for over 15 years. She was called to the BC bar in 2004 and is currently qualified to practice in Alberta pending her anticipated call to the Alberta bar.
