Murray McGown

Murray McGown specializes in administrative, civil, labour and pension law. He was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 1988. Mr. McGown has appeared before a number of Courts and Boards as counsel, including the Supreme Court of Canada, Federal Trial and Appeal Courts, Alberta Court of Queen’s Bench, the Alberta Labour Relations Board, and the Alberta Human Rights Commission. As an adjudicator, he was Chair of a Board of Inquiry pursuant to the Individual’s Rights Protection Act of Alberta, and has served as arbitrator on several public and private rights and interest arbitration boards. He was a Past Chair of the National Labour Law Section, Canadian Bar Association, and was active in the Canadian Association of Labour Lawyers. Mr. McGown is listed in the Canadian Legal LEXPERT Directory as one of the leading practitioners in Canada. He is currently on the Board of Fresh Start, an association dedicated to assisting persons with alcohol or drug-related issues.
